Thanks for asking, Molly. I was just getting ready to send something out to
the list.
First, I want to thank everyone who e-mailed me privately or sent cards.
That meant a lot, especially the words of encouragement from those who have
experienced a loss like this.
I'm trying to keep a regular schedule with the horses - they were very
out-of-sorts the week of the funeral. I had a number of friends doing the
feeding, but, the regularity of the schedule, plus the new faces really
upset them. By Saturday, the day of the funeral, they were very much on
edge. It took almost a week before they settled back to their old, calm
selves.
I am feeling like I'm drowning in the paperwork. And we don't have much, but
it seems like every day I find another place that I need to call.
The most frequently asked question has been about our therapeutic riding
program and whether or not I can continue it. The short answer is "yes" I
plan to continue the program. At this time I need the horses and the sense
of satisfaction that the program gives. I have a volunteer who is also a
special ed teacher and has taken the NARHA course. She has offered to do
whatever she can to assist. The core volunteers have stepped up to help with
the manure management. Even some Chamber members are coming out to help.
This small, community atmosphere is remarkable and I am so grateful to those
who are coming out to help. Two agencies have promised me high school kids
once the weather warms up.
Emotionally it's been a roller coaster ride. I'm confident it will level out
at some point...not sure when.
Thanks again for the support,
Linda W - southeast Michigan
