[haflingerfriends] Re: Another Hurdle Cleared!

Oh, I would never laugh, Denny! If you are having a low confidence moment I think you should do what I did. Pin up a picture of Denny riding a beautiful Haflinger in the snow Bareback! It worked for me! That photo is still on the bulletin board at the barn, but now, under where I had written "Marlene's Goas for 2010" someone wrote in "Goal met in February!"
I rode with two friends in the arena today and had such a wonderful time. Mounting was easy today and accomplished much more quickly than yesterday. The saddle didn't move and neither did Charlie. After about an hour the gals asked if I would like to venture outside and down the long driveway. I was a little unsure, but said yes. It required riding out of the barn about 10 feet before being outside. I've led Charlie those same 10 feet hundreds of times but as I rode I kept thinking,"okay, is there anything there that will spook him?" Then I realized that Charlie had to be thinking, "okay.....she's acting nervous, there must be something there that will spook me." I decided to be bold and we got through that 10 feet just fine! The great outdoors sure did look big all of a sudden, but we rode down the driveway for a few minutes until we saw the barn owner approach on her tractor. I decided to head back in and finish up in the arena, just in case. All in all it was a really good time and we all enjoyed each other's company.
Keep wearing those riding clothes Denny, next thing you know you'll be using them for what their intended.

I still don't trust saddles not to slip around, especially on Fancy as she is darn near circular, but can't even trust it on Mr G who actually has withers.

Don't laugh but I've taken to wearing my riding clothes around the house, just to try and get into the mindset, but can't help wondering how I'm going to get on these youngsters when I can't even get on Fancy?
