A sheet would work in the interim but I live in Southern Louisiana and eventually even a fly sheet is too much.
The last thing I will be doing is separating them. Mostly I don't mind the bald patches or even the broken skin but I do like to be able to ride them. Once I had to do ground work for six weeks because of an ill placed bite.
Boys will be boys.

I don't think it will really matter what you spray on them as when horses play they bite and kick and do all the horsey stuff without thinking, it is all fast.
I have my horses all pastured together, minus the two colts who stay together. lol... and yeah there are bite marks and kick marks here and there but they are happier being together in a herd. I just work with the bite marks and stuff.
Horses will be horses. I feel bad when horses don't get to interact with one another.
Good luck with whatever you find works for you.

They are both having a fine time but, of course, occasionally skin is broken and a couple of times I have been unable to put a saddle on them because of the location of the bites. The healing can take some time which is inconvenient.
