Hi my friends,
Though I know some of you are not sure what to write or if to write, it is ok. I understand as I myself do the same at times to many posts on here. However, for those of you wanting to know how my day has been since yesterday evening....well. ..I think I should take Sandys advice and stay in the house, on the couch, and drink wine or better yet...whiskey!
So I had today all planned...going to take the filly (it was a girl) up to another place that we moved cattle out of due to a large pack of wolves that killed 10 head of calves up there and drop her off, then come home, clean the truck bed out, feed, and then fix fence and go to town for to run something it there. Anyway....it is now almost 3 pm and I just got back from unloading the filly. I drove up there a bit later as the wind was blowing and I couldn't see earlier. So, I get up there, driving out across the pasture and viola, I am stuck! I mess around and sort of get unstuck but not for long. Stuck even moreso now. Buried my pickup, axels and all as I broke through layers of snow and ice. Finally I was really stuck! Called "granpa" (not my granpa but thats what we call him) to come save me. OK, he's in town, but finally gets out there, and I tell him don't come over here or you'll get stuck. What happens...he gets stuck too! As bad as me. So I
shovel, and shovel and an hour later I am still shoveling and finally I get his truck shoveled out from the bottom! He can now move about 8 inches thats it. So, we get out the chains and chain him up. After some time- he gets unstuck. I however am still stuck...so he finally gets backed up to me and we get some baling twine and he after a few attempts and I shovel somemore...gets me unstuck! Great. Now I head to town.... look down and my ABS light is on. Wonderful! Get to town, do my little chore there...come home and decide...yup. ..Sandy was definately right! So, here I am...just got home...soaked. ..I mean I am soaked!!! My coveralls weigh as much as I do by now, my boots are sloshy wet, feet are cold, hands are cold and cut up from digging in snow and ice, and so here I sit. Doing just what I should I guess! Sitting, not moving....Oh ya and of course I had been trying to talk with my dad for the last week, since my b-day I think was the last I spoke
with him much as his shop has been buisy everytime I call, and guess what- I'll be dipped in chicken duky if he doesn't call while I am shoveling to beat the bandit...so I don't get to talk with him, I hang up and he says he'll call back later..well later never came I guess and in the mean time when I was shoveling I had some change in my pocket that all fell out so I dug through the snow to find it! What a country!!!
I better change and put my inserts to my boots in the dryer so I can get chores done later and go up to check the girls...hoping I don't get stuck again of course! So, there you have it. My life is just so exciting isn't it?!!
Just keep smiling..... thats what I am doing....and Denny- I hope your hugs to Alto and your chat go well. Missing the big boy! Thanks.
Sincerely goodbye for now fellow haflinger freinds,
Dawn
PS Angels do come in many forms, but when one gets its wings clipped it can be hard to understand for after all we are just humans!

What a special story about the mare that is right there to help Folly. Sounds like she appreciated your help when you stitched her up. Angels come in many forms don't they?
