[haflingerfriends] Re: Another Hurdle Cleared!

That is funny! I am dismounting in a different place every time so he doesn't think that getting near the tacking area automatically means that we are through. I have also discovered that Charlie can tell time. His training sessions and my lessons have typically been an hour long and I notice that at the end of an hour he starts giving me the signals that "time's up." Last week I rode for about 10 minutes longer after the lesson since the next student was still tacking up and Charlie let me know that he thought it was time to be done. He doesn't get stubborn or fight with me, he just "pretends" I gave him the "whoa" cue, or walks at a snail's pace. Yesterday my friend let me know every time she was going to trot her horse in case Charlie wanted to follow suit without being cued.....but I observed that when her horse trotted, Charlie walked (or trotted when asked)even more slowly, as if he thought that Sunny was working hard enough for both of them. Always thinking!
