[haflingerfriends] Re: Trailering options

Yes, that is a great option for a lot of people, and I've heard great things about Dyer.

As for the cart/carriage in the truck bed, we opted out of that out of nbecessity. Our shorter bed was not cunducive - but lots of people do it, even installing an atv winch in the truck to pull the equipment up. We found the tailgate of our truck wasn't wide enough to allow the wheels to pass through. It would have fit if we could have lifted the cart over the gate and placed it inside. Not gonna happen. SO, if you even consider this option, be sure to measure your tailgate opening and the wheelbase of your equipment.

We discovered Dyer Buggy Works in Florida and they make supports that you attach to the back of your trailer doors to carry a 2 wheel cart with he shafts going straight up the back. I have a picture of our 20 foot Jackson goosneck trailer with the cart on the back if you can't find the other website. Our Jackson trailer does have a solid door so that the cart attached can swing out with the whole door, but I have friends that attached it to their double door. The only problem with that is that the horses have to be loaded before you can put the cart on the back and the cart has to be taken off before the horses can get out. With our option we can take 1 four wheeled cart inside with our golfcart and a horse with the 2 wheeled meadowbrook on the back, or take 2 horses and one cart in side and one cart on the outside. You could do similar with your truckbed.
