We are looking for anywhere from 5 acres on up, even less if we find well planned acreage. We are not fussy. Just so discouraged with our Connecticut search.
We are willing to do almost any sort of work. I work in a hospital intensive care unit as secretary and telemetry technician. (reading heart rhythms) I also write for magazines and would like to make that a bigger part of my daily life. Dave is in manufacturing, but also builds furniture/tack boxes as a part time endeavor. We'd even consider a caretaker type position so long as it came with a barn for the horses, housing, and health insurance.
We do not show, but are familiar with the horse show scene as my daughter who now lives in PA showed for years and still competes in the hunter/jumper shows. We are avid trail riders and would like to learn a little bit about dressage to help us and our ponies.
We are a bit tired of the hectic lifestyle here in Connecticut and discouraged with the lack of trails. We've been looking for a place for three years. One of our criteria was trail access and that has proven to be near to impossible to find. We just heard back from our bank: although our credit is great and we have the money to buy, the property we looked at is not appraising anywhere near what we agreed to pay. This is a common problem nowadays as appraisers are very cautious in their assessments. Understandably so, but as this is the tenth (?) property that has fallen through for reasons beyond our control, we thought perhaps the spirits are gently pushing us to make a bigger move. Perhaps its time we took a bigger risk and started anew.
Thanks so much,
Karen in Connecticut
