[haflingerfriends] Re: Horse Trailer for Haffies, Shetlands, Cart or Carriage, Harness

Are you asking what type of trailer to buy to carry your driving hobby?

Here is what we see a lot at the CDEs we've been to. Now there are very expensive rigs, but this is what caught our eye because it's what we could afford and serve multiple uses.

You seem to have a short bed truck, ad do we because of the Supercab. Rather than take a chance, we have chosen a BP. With a long-bed, we would have probably chosen a GN.

People buy a 16-20' stock trailer with the normal center gate in the middle. They load their cart/carriage in first, other equipment, then close the center gate. Then they load the horses at the rear. In the event of a problem or accident, you'll have quick access to your horses w/o having to remove the equipment.

It is OK to haulk with the horses in the rear. In all these LQ and lg. dressing room trailers - have you ever seen the dressing rooms or LQ in the rear?

We need to use our trailer, when we get it, to store one of the carts, so we're getting the front enclosed and the rear open as a reg. stock trailer. I also specified a bus window in the front driver's side in case we ever wanted to camp in it. We have an order ready to go with Adam trailers in VA, and the cost is only $5700. Steel, of course. If you want alum. the price triples.

If you can afford and want a larger trailer, you can look at th e2+1 trailers. You load the carts in the front, and the 2 horses straight load in the rear. Haven't seen this in steel but someone probably makes it. In alum. the price was $20K and up, depending on brand name. We found KB (Kieffer Built) the best value for the money.

Hope that helps!
