I chose mine because I love the look of the breed and because an affordable
one came along at just the right time.
I think you'll find there are different horses within the breeds. The only
Fjord I ever rode had a choppy uncomfortable trot and was very unresponsive
to the bit. That doesn't mean Fjords are like that, it just means THAT HORSE
was like that. You might find a "dead head" Haflinger, or a speedy one, one
who cares about you and will take good care of you or one who doesn't care
about anyone but himself. I think they are all individuals. (For example,
Golden Retrievers are known as gentle family pets but I have known more than
a couple of nasty ones.) Meet some horses, try them out, and you'll probably
find just the right one for you. If you love the Haffy appearance as I do,
you'll focus your search on them and find the perfect Haflinger for you
somewhere.
