RE: [haflingerfriends] Rider weight?

I use the 20% rule. That being said, I also verify it with my vet just in
case I'm missing something.

I have one Haflinger that is big boned, big bodies, etc. I set the weight
limit at 200 lbs. the vet said 230 to 250!!!!

I'll stay with 200 thank you.

Yes, at least my horse will tell me if they feel the rider is too heavy.
Sometimes the too heavy means not properly balanced or is dead weight. In
either case I'll move the rider to a horse that can carry more weight, or
politely explain that the person cannot ride.
