I really do like Ohio and am not complaining. We get four very distict seasons. Spring and Fall are the BEST, good reasons to stay here! Summers aren't usually too bad and winters aren't usually this bad, though I have discovered riding in the cornfields (haha, how cliche!) on the snowmobile tracks! Wow, I can't think of a better place to ride a greenbroke horse! No worry about tripping or steering (she HAS to stay straight!) so we really get to work on speed and transitions and we're really improving a lot! Had the most in control, delightful canter yet on Sunday.
So thanks for that drop of 70 degree weather, it made me feel better. But I don't hate this weather, I just want my horse!!! :-(

Hey Molly
I was born and raised in california and when I was 22 I was engaged and moved to Oklahoma. Figured it would be an adventure. It sure was! OMG things didn't work out for my engagment (thank god lol) and the thunderstorms and fireflies (which I have never seen before other than on TV) were really cool there, but the weather SUCKED! I don't know how people live with summers so humid with ticks and chiggers and RAIN...in summer? that would suck with tarps on the hay. lol we get our rain in winter...never rains in summer
and the winters...WOW. Freezing rain? never heard of that till I lived there. I knew OK was not for me when I was at work and went to go to lunch at noon, and my truck was a block of ice! I went to open the door handle and I slipped, fell on my butt and was halfway under my truck. lol. it snowed a few times, and that was the first time in my life I SAW it snowing. it was beautiful. but cold.
I gained 40lbs living there cause I couldn't do anything outside. Too cold or too hot/humid and not to mention my allergies hated me there.
so Here is a drop of our 70 degree warmth. Your a tough woman to live where it snows. That is one thing I love about cali, I can visit the snow whenever I want in the mountians, but I don't have to live in it. :)
Stay warm girl friend

who is going to go riding yet again today, just which horse to choose...hmmmm

> Hi Friends,
> So, on a lighter note. Yesterday I worked on my granddaughter's quilt for her 10th birthday today. I needed a Scharly break, so off I went halter in hand to the barn. Scharly was ready to get out of her corral and I took her off our property to handgraze her along the road out front. The neighbor's wild oats and grass have grown quite tall with all the rain we've had. And we don't have that kind of grass growing in our almond orchard....mostly fiddlehead :o( and blue curl grass. Soooo....needless to say, Scharly thought this was the cat's meow. It was in the high 60's, no wind, and grass up to her knees. Then the neighbor came out to visit along the fenceline, cars and trucks would slow down for the most part to gaze at my golden diva as she was stuffing her face and she was loving it. And even when the trucks didn't slow down, she could have cared less.
> As my neighbor talked, and talked and talked, I took the opportunity to work on Scharly's ground manners......you know, just keep her feet in one spot and ignore the grass. You can just imagine the pouty look she gave. "This is a joke isn't it?" "You can't mean I can't eat anymore." I'll bet we spent 45 minutes with the standing where I put her. If she moved her foot, I'd give the sign and back it would go. She was chewing and licking and finally figured this wasn't as hard as it appeared. Soooo, use every opportunity to teach your haffie some good tools.
> Today, Ali got her quilt and I had a bunch of young girls asking if I would be their grandma. Uhmmmm, I have almost 12 as it is, but have known some of these girls for the last 9 yrs...I'd best be thinking of graduation quilts for the future for them. lol
> I did get my Scharly fix again today. Washed her tail, and did some brushing as she is blowing her coat. The rain is a coming again the end of the week. I'd best enjoy it while I can. :o)
