We eventually got bad Karma returned to us for doing it though. One day me and my next door neighbor best friend Beth had been loving all over a favorite and hand feeding her grass, when we decided we had tired of that, and started to walk away. The mare decided she had not had enough attention and chased after us. We started to run and so did she! I thought we were going to be trampled to death as you can imagine a couple of skinny 9 yr old girls and a 2000 + pound massive Percheron mare that had "joined up" giving chase. lol! I was soooooo scared, I made a split second decision to break away from Beth figuring the horse could only chase one of us that way. You dont know how secretly happy I was that the horse decided to continue to chase Beth. Evil, I know, but still the truth. lol!

"...Thank goodness the horses were all well behaved...The (teen) girls are

wonder how long this has been going on?..."

I hear ya! :-) When I boarded in the city, we had a problem with the
kids from the apartments (across from the private home with pasture, where
I rented) ... they would hop the fence and help themselves. They had to go
over a fence, cross a 1 acre empty pasture, to get to my horses' pens. In
other words, going out of their way, to reach my guys (not just reaching
over a fence.)
.
Only they weren't just petting - they were trying to RIDE them! And going
into my feed locker, leaving the gate open. One day, I was worried sick -
almost a whole 50# bag of chicken feed (VERY bad for horses!) and a 50#
bag of alfalfa pellets, plus what they could ransack of the grass hay stack
(that part was a mess but not near as dangerous.) All this between 2
horses and 1 pony!! I was furious. Police said unless we caught them red
handed, and could hold them there till the police arrived - there was nothing
we could do. One even said, it was OUR fault for having an "attractive
nuisance" (he said, the legal term!)
.
We moved after that time ... but always galled me - "our" fault for 13-15
yr old trespassing? ? As if they didn't KNOW better?? You can tell - I
never forgave almost killing my herd through trespassing and gross
negligence!!
