RE: [haflingerfriends] colic

Susan,

Sounds like the overload of worms could be the reason for the colic.

In addition to water, I want to add exercise. My vet tells me that more
horses colic when the weather turns bad (icy, snowy, etc.) because they
don't get the exercise they would normally get. Mine are out in a paddock
24/7, but, when the weather turns bad, they hang out by the barn or in their
run-in and not move like they do when the weather is nice.

So, as long as I can stand the cold, I bring them into the arena and let
them run at liberty for about 10 - 15 minutes. Some of them don't really
want to run, they would rather roll - something else they can't do on the
ice.
