So, on a lighter note. Yesterday I worked on my granddaughter's quilt for her 10th birthday today. I needed a Scharly break, so off I went halter in hand to the barn. Scharly was ready to get out of her corral and I took her off our property to handgraze her along the road out front. The neighbor's wild oats and grass have grown quite tall with all the rain we've had. And we don't have that kind of grass growing in our almond orchard....mostly fiddlehead :o( and blue curl grass. Soooo....needless to say, Scharly thought this was the cat's meow. It was in the high 60's, no wind, and grass up to her knees. Then the neighbor came out to visit along the fenceline, cars and trucks would slow down for the most part to gaze at my golden diva as she was stuffing her face and she was loving it. And even when the trucks didn't slow down, she could have cared less.
As my neighbor talked, and talked and talked, I took the opportunity to work on Scharly's ground manners......you know, just keep her feet in one spot and ignore the grass. You can just imagine the pouty look she gave. "This is a joke isn't it?" "You can't mean I can't eat anymore." I'll bet we spent 45 minutes with the standing where I put her. If she moved her foot, I'd give the sign and back it would go. She was chewing and licking and finally figured this wasn't as hard as it appeared. Soooo, use every opportunity to teach your haffie some good tools.
Today, Ali got her quilt and I had a bunch of young girls asking if I would be their grandma. Uhmmmm, I have almost 12 as it is, but have known some of these girls for the last 9 yrs...I'd best be thinking of graduation quilts for the future for them. lol
I did get my Scharly fix again today. Washed her tail, and did some brushing as she is blowing her coat. The rain is a coming again the end of the week. I'd best enjoy it while I can. :o)
