This will be year #5 I believe. We are planning to get together at
Gettysburg, PA again. The Gathering Folk had so much fun in 2008 at
Gettysburg, it seemed the perfect choice for 2010. The weekend dates are
June 25th through 27th although several are planning to arrive earlier and
stay later.
Artillery Ridge Campground has invited us back.
(http://www.artilleryridge.com/) Although I believe the cabins have already
been booked by the Gathering Folk, AR still has many tent camping and camper
sites left and may have a "permanent site camper" or two available for rent.
There are still stalls and paddocks available. The event organizer, Kari
LaBell, is working with a local hotel for group rates for those who don't
want to camp. She has got a lot of fun stuff scheduled including our annual
Friday night Pizza Party and Saturday night group dinner. Plus Gettysburg
is an amazing town surrounded by the historic battlefield.
Don't miss this year's event. In 2008 we had 75 adults and children with 40
horses, 30 of which were Haflingers. There were golden butts everywhere.
Haflingers are encouraged but not required. There are rental horses at
Artillery Ridge for those who want to ride but don't want to transport their
own horses. For those who came in 2008 and have already seen the trails on
the battlefield, Kari is making arrangements to travel to a nearby state
park for more adventurous trail riding. Art and I have already scouted out
some new wagon ride routes, many leaving right from the campground.
