[haflingerfriends] Re: Why Halflingers? Fords Vs Haflingers

Hi, We've owned both Haflingers and Fjords and currently have a Fjord. I too have a muscle disorder and due to that, I prefer the Fjord mentality, movement and conformation over the Haflinger. The breeds are quite different in many respects. My experience with our past Haflingers (A line)- they were very people oriented, talented, energetic, had oodles of endurance, easy keepers, round barreled but too much horse due to my physical issues and limitations. What I like about our Fjord, he's always the same relaxed horse no matter where we go, no matter how much time has passed since last ridden, he has a delightful personality and his conformation makes him very comfortable to ride for hours at a time. Choosing between the breeds really comes down to the individual horse. They are both wonderful breeds. Leslie
