[haflingerfriends] Re: Mitch's Freedom Feeder

Yahoo!! good for you Leiana. So glad you were able to get this net. Mitch is probably thrilled also. Bragging about it to the horses around him that are already finished with their food and he's still chewing. :o)
Laura of drying out Cal.
(I got my granddaughter's large quilt layered this morning. Now to machine quilt it and hopefully will have it completed in 6 more hours)

I like several different bags, one was the Nibble Net and the other was the Busy Horse bag, but the issue I have with them is they looked like they needed to be removed to fill. As a boarder, I couldn't really see that happening. I talked to my barn owner, and we decided the Freedom Feeder was the best one because it could be tied up to the pipe corral with the back open so the guys who feed in the morning just have to go down the line and stuff the hay into the net.

I showed up at noon on Saturday (and keep in mind they feed around 6 or 7 am) and there was still hay left in the bottom and he was nibbling away. And off we went on a trail ride, and came home to find evening feed had been fed, and his hay net was now full again. I'm really excited about this. He spent lots more time eating than he did before. He's even shown within 1 day that his attitude is changing, he's less pushy about getting to grass because he's had a chance to eat for longer and isn't starving.
