[haflingerfriends] Major medical insurance for horses

I am considering buying major medical insurance for the little Haffy mare that I am shareboarding. The cost would be part of my "share" of her expenses. The owner has a lot of horses and limited income and I'd like to be sure "my" little Haffy will have insurance to pay in case she ever need say colic surgery or has an expensive injury.

Does anyone have experience with such insurance? I need to know which companies are reliable and honest.

Years ago I used AGriRisk for health and mortality on Tom my TB. I had it from his age 7 til he was 18 when the company stopped insuring (they insured through the whole 18th year then it was over). I made claims different years on the policy..to the limits of the policy...which then was only around $5,000..andthey paid off great. They paid for rehab expenses and vet bills. I will check with them again but was curious what experiences others have had.
