[haflingerfriends] Driving related question

I know that many of us drive Haflingers, so I am hoping to find an
answer to a question that members of our carriage club have been
discussing.

Driving lines for a single horse have the attachments at one end that
go onto the bit. The other end of the lines are each different: one
has a buckle and one has the pointed end that goes into the buckle.
Which side of the horse does the line with the end buckle go and why?

Thanks for any information on this. I know it isn't a major issue,
but it's been a niggling topic of discussion with argument on both
sides that seem plausible.
