[haflingerfriends] clicker training

Congratulations to all that have been using clicker training!! I've been using it for about 10 yrs. and the results are fantastic. If you ever decide that you truly want to have back and forth conversation with your animals, this is the way. I love how someone described the "light bulb" going on. How true, I really love seeing when the animal "gets" it. Mine sure look forward to training sessions.Guinness especially loves to play the games. It's the best way to create that special bond and so quickly. My friend was absolutely amazed when I had her nasty tempered gelding (not a haffy of course!) bowing within two carrots. I used sliced carrots most of the time and some of mine don't really care so much about the treat as being "right". So much fun and I will also chime in and say that Alex Kurland is the best. I've done weekend training clinics with her and she's wonderful. Check out the seeing eye mini horse that is clicker trained, Panda. Now, if it wasn't so cold out, I'd go and do a session or two. I've also trained each of my three horses to come individually when called with clicker training. I know there are people out there that are appalled at feeding treats, hand feeding, etc. but I've never seen anything that makes the communication as clear as clicker training. As Alex would say, we all work for reward, don't we? We work for paychecks and the horses and dogs work for treats!
Keep up the good work.

Snowing again, but may get above freezing today, I'm so ready for spring, why can't that groundhog predict only two more weeks???
