Re: [haflingerfriends] Messy tail what to do???

Ok my girl had a flu bug here a couple weeks ago, well she developed diarrhea and he tail was the same way.She isn't a tail up kinda girl either. She prefers to keep it clamped to her bottom, well that made things under the tail worse. So i bought some vet wrap and wrapped her tail about 5-6 inches of it anyways so it would stay cleaner. Then just changed it every 2 days or when needed. And since she was also dirty under the tail i would clean under it to so as not to have any more chapping or chafing on her girly parts. She was thankful while she wasn't feeling well, and i could tell when she was getting better as she wouldn't stand for the cleaning anymore.I never tried a tail bag.You could trim her tail up some and then wrap it too(with the vet wrap)that sounds like it might help her.
Hope this helps some,i know it can be hard.
