To me, to justify breeding a horse in these tough economic times, not only does a person need to choose their sire as well as dam carefully... they ALSO need to know that there is a home down the line for the upcoming foal. I have been pretty upset to see that some people who are having problems finding time or money to care for the horses they already have are now considering breeding for even more! What is up with that???

To breed for sale, only breed mares with "popular" traits to stallions with "popular" traits (breed for the market, even if it isn't exactly your ideal).
