[haflingerfriends] Fwd: Horse treats

Here are some recipes that came from my Donkey yahoo group. I left the
comments people sent along with them- scroll down for the recipes!

you can substitute applesauce for the molasses in any receipe. works
great! LOL i pust pepermint sticks in some of mine cause my horses and
donkeys love peppermint!....pamela


maybe you can replace the molasses in some recipes with applesauce!?!
some call for corn syrup, dunno if that would be a good thing to feed an
equine LOL

*Apple Cookies*

• 1 cup margarine
• 1 cup flour
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1 cup bran
• 1 cup diced carrots
• 1 cup diced apples
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups quick-cooking dry oatmeal
• ½ cup applesauce

Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in applesauce.
Combine flour, bran and baking soda. Blend into creamed mixture. Stir in
oats, carrots, and apples. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets
and bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove and
cool. Makes about 4 dozen.


*Oat 'n' Apple Chewies*
Treat your horse or pony to these simple squares made of wholesome
ingredients. Keep them fresh in the fridge. Remember not to feed too many of
any treat too often.
INGREDIENTS: [image: bullet] 1 ½ cups unsweetened applesauce [image:
bullet] 1 cup oat bran cereal or ground oatmeal [image: bullet] ½ cup all
purpose flour (approx.)
PREPARATION:
[image: bullet] Preheat oven to 350F [image: bullet] Oil a 9inch x 9inch
square cake panSpread the batter evenly in the cake pan and bake for 20-30
minutes. The batter will start to shrink away from the sides and it will be
firm to the touch.

Slice into squares while still warm. Keep chewies in the refrigerator in an
air-tight container or bag.


*Jack's Snack*
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 spoonfuls molasses
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup diced carrot
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add ingredients in order listed. Place batter
in round balls on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Easy No Cook Bran Snaps (Horse Treats)

4 c. bran
4 c. applesauce

Mix ingreedients together.
Batter should be doughy.
Roll out with rolling pin, cut shapes with cookie cutter.
Let dough dry and serve
