[haflingerfriends] Carting conundrums

Folllowing Jessies rave reviews of her recent harness purchase, I stopped talking about it and actually did it, so hopefully mine will turn up in the new year sometime. I hope my guys look as well behaved on their first outings as Toby did.

Now once we've cracked the fitting, and polished the ground driving, and I've been for some lessons, we will obviously need a cart. I ended up not going to look at the one I posted, although I thought the asking price of $500 was well reasonable, it was a scary looking beast to me.

Having done a little research, I'm thinking that a forecart would probably make most sense for me, and I'd welcome thoughts, debate, ideas etc.

So this is what we have

Novice driver, experienced (but out of practice) horse.
Gravel roads, or off road, no hard top near.
Would love to be able to harrow the pony paddocks and arena (when it gets built) with Haflinger power.
Live in an area where the ground vanishes under a layer of snow for at least 4 months of the year.
No ambitions to show as yet, just to be able to enjoy another element of the Haflingers versatility.

So what do you think people, it seems like the Pioneer Forecart would be a sensible choice, but maybe you know a better choice.

I looks like we may have to come down to the States to go shopping on this one, the only ones I've seen advertised in Canada seem to be well pricey, if anyone knows where to grab the best bargains, let me know!

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Denny, in foggy freezing Saskatchewan
