I began doing it on a whim when he first rubbed his mane off five months ago and it was terribly uneven. Meant to be simply decorative but apparently it's functional, too. :)

How about zig zagging the duck tape up and down the bars like a fence...making a bunch of 'z's? it is sturdy stuff, cheap, and will prevent him from sticking his head through the bars. for how long? I don't know i've never done it before, might look a little tacky but hey, silver duck tape goes with galvanized pipe panels...lol

The tail bags are the eaisest things in the world! I tried that thing with the vet wrap that someone posted the video on...that was a joke for me and my horses. lol. They had it off in a few hours. I can count the number of times I have had a tail bag come off in the 6 years I've had Rosie. lol. All you do is braid the tail, then put their tail in the tail bag and the strap that is at the top of the bag just passes through their braid at the base of the tail bone. VIOLA! stays on for weeks. I redue mine every week or every other week. Depending on how it looks. so easy to brush out with a little Vetrolin shine or laser sheen. and the tails stay white and drag on the ground.

I know how to braid his tail now because I watched that handy video that someone here on Haflinger Friends hooked us into; but, the bags?, I don't know how to use those. How do they stay up on the tail? It seems like they would slide off which I know they don't.
