I bought a Smuckers synthetic harness that I'm very pleased with. It's heavy duty, easy to clean, and looks very handsome. With a name like Smuckers, it's got to be good! (Sorry...I couldn't resist! ;^) Anyway, the workmanship is excellent and is worth your consideration.
Good luck in finding the harness you want. It's very exciting to go shopping for horse items! I would rather go to a tack shop or a TSC (Tractor Supply Company) than a department store any day of the week!
Cheers!

Subject: [haflingerfriends] Random questions
Well Saskatchewan is certainly giving us a blast of winter, we had a two day winter storm over the weekend, a nice day yesterday and now we have blizzard like conditions, all the new snow is being moved around by a wind that is coming straight from the Arctic, turning an actual temp of 0*F to a 'feels like' of -22*F, and even for us who are used to it, it's raw out there today. Brrrrrrrrrrrr
So in the absence of being able to be outside and play with horses I've posted a couple of photo's in the Alto album, some from way back in the summer, then a couple from last week, showing off the boy ground driving in my cheapy harness. I predict many happy hours in the future with a hot nail and some rivets and spare strapping making some alterations to the fitting LOL.
Also while we are house bound a girl starts that very dangerous thing of window shopping, and with the Internet the possibilities are HUGE. One thing I know, I'll need to upgrade the harness at some time, and I have no idea where to start.
SO
First question, apart from the obvious of getting some good solid hands on instruction from a good trainer, who can recommend good books for the novice driver? Also what brands/makers/ or suppliers of harness would you suggest as being good ones to look at?
Second question, I would really like to be able to come down for the Mt Hope sale in March, is it a good sale to go to? Actually I'd really like to come down for the Ashland sale, but that is in the middle of seeding time here, so there is zero chance of being able to make that one.
Thanks in advance, Denny
(who is wondering WHY she chose to move to a place that is colder than your average freezer for at least 3 months of the year)
