Thanks for sharing, Jacque! Sounds wonderfully fun! You are so fortunate to have your family excited about an activity that involves horses! Enjoy!!!

Subject: [haflingerfriends] First show of the year and mom brag

Hi everyone. We had our first driving show of the year this past
Saturday at beautiful Windy Knoll Farm, in Sullivan, Ohio. An ADT
(Arena Drive Trial) Lot's of firsts for the family. Mike drove his
newest Haflinger, who has a wonderful career as a hitch horse, but when
our first and second string driving horses got laid up for various
reasons, he headed out to the gelding field and pulled this guy in.
They made it through the event, even pulling a 4th place out of 14 I
think in the hazard section. Dressage score was terrible, great judge,
Muffy Seaton from Aiken, SC, but hitch horse turn dressage horse in less
than three weeks does not equal a great score. Lots to work on, but
lots of fun.

Then, my mom, drove in her first ever ADT with Tucker, Johnathan's
mini. She had a great time and finished with 3rd and 2nd places.

However my personal highlight was our four year old son, Johnathan,
who drove Tucker in the youth division for the very first time. It was
so much fun and so cute. That little mini is the best thing ever, and
JD made it through the entire dressage test, although when he stopped to
salute, he put the lines in one hand, along with his whip, but when he
took his cap off for the salute, he moved his hand with the whip in it,
and little Tucker started trotting! :) I had to stop Tucker until
Johnathan could get everything back together. The final salute was
great. Then the cones course we walked most of it with a little trot
here and there. Johnathan knows his numbers by sight through 11, but
there were 14, so I was explaining where we were going. It was great,
until he figured out that he could hit the cone and the ball would fall
off and roll, and then THAT was WAY better than going through them! :)
Ha!

I was personal groom, no showing for me, which was interesting, but
lots of fun. Lots of Haflingers at the show! There are pictures at our
website www.hfbhaflingers.com <http://www.hfbhaflingers.com> under
shows 2010. No pictures of Mike and his gelding, I took video of him so
we could watch it and work on things, but mom and JD have pictures.
Thanks for letting me share!!!
