Seriously, they seem to do really well in it, Alto and my expectant mums all have access to ad lib hay and are also fed soaked beet pellets to carry their supplements, Alto and Raven are also fed a complete ration and BOSS.
On that they are all holding their weight well, and as long as they are able to get some shelter when the wind is whistling around they all look very content. It amazes me how warm they are inside that fur coat, you bury your fingers in, or just tuck a hand up under that long and they are as warm as toast.
I worry more about March/April and the thaw time, the damp and temp fluctuations are far harder on the horses than months of sun zero temps.
Denny in Sask where it's nearly 10 pm and a chilly -18*F actual, feels like -38*F with the windchill.
