I'm so sorry to read that there are some people on the Haflinger Friends list who don't know how to behave. I myself have never been able to understand why some people choose to behave badly. In my eyes they are the stupid ones and sadly lacking in upbringing, too.
Being European, and yes actually Scandinavian (Swedish), I grew up with Belgian horses, learned to ride on them as a little girl, bareback, and also the North Swedish horse. I have always admired the Percherons from afar, and understand that they are also very big, black or grey.
Last summer I was invited to a carriage ride with an immense and beautiful black Shire-horse, and it was fantastic how he responded to his owners voice. There was as much love between them as between me and my haflingers.
Kris, please don't think that those few rude ones are representative of the vast majority of us. Maybe we who are the "old ones" are a little weary of answering questions from newcomers, there I am guilty also.

I read and asked a couple of questions when there was a subject I actually KNEW about and wrote to it ( Emailers version of " spoke to it" ). I not only got mildly blasted on the list but got a couple of Very rude " WHO do you think YOU ARE??" and " When did YOU join the list ???" kind of emails in private. Had I been in the mood I am now, I'd have told these two women what they could do w/ their snotty attitudes. I happen to be a professional horse trainer ( yeah- one of the good kind who doesn't turn out 30 day wonders) , a world champion in the world of draft horses and have been running my own successful business for right around 40 yrs. So I don't figure I need to be spoken to like some kind of idiot nor be treated as though I know nothing at all.

Its just not that important to me.... from what I have found- the Hafflingers owners are as bull headed as the little horses are, but they are not human. The folks on this list ARE. So why Not try to get along ? Why Not understand that not everyone is as wonderful and knowledgable as "you" ? Why Not remember that one day , perhaps not so long ago, those rude know it alls have been in the same place as those asking to learn more Now ? Don't judge others- but try to help them with kindness, intelligent conversation and --- did I mention understanding ? Sheeesh- grow up people. Shame on those who treat beginners like dummies, and don't forget that one time You were a beginner Too. To those on this list who are into helping the breed grow and prosper ?? Thank YOU !

I Do believe I'm dropping this list. I've learned nothing that I already didn't know for years.
