If I was looking for a family pony I would sure go look at her, she sounds like she could be a real sweetie.
The second mare, really just makes me sad, the owner wants to sell her and buy a well broke kids pony to use on their ranch, but all she has going for her at this stage is a set of papers, with no real strong names close up.
If nothing else it is another thing that has brought home the responsibility of working with your horses, if she had some ground work on her, if she was being sold as ready to back this spring and ride away, then she would be so much more attractive, as someone else said, at least you know that her bones will be fused.
IDK I just found the two ads really interesting to compare.

They are respectful and hard-working. They are descendants of Austrian mountain ponies and are solid and strong, hardy, easy keepers and long-lived. They excel at jumping and are great for driving."

It is my understanding that a con artist is someone who leads you to believe something that is not true, and looks to profit from that deception. Even a small "white lie" in my book by a seller is a no go. Because most likely that will not be the only mistruth you will discover... it is just the most glaringly obvious. When I buy a horse, I want the good, the bad, and the ugly - and truthfully!
