It is rare that I feel our list is truly violated and have had to ban few people over the years. Yes, we have our disagreements and don't see eye to eye, and yes, things have gotten unpleasant on a number of occasions.
But two things have happened that really make me angry.
I've had to ban someone from the list who was assuming more than one identity on the list, using different names and emails. I know I can't prevent this from happening since people on the internet can assume any identity they want (and I know it has happened before) but when it is done specifically and intentionally to stir up foment on the list, I draw the line.
There is also someone on this list who is sending every post on this list to a public blog, without my permission, and without the permission of all of you who post on the list. It is a running feed to the blog, so the minute this message appears on this list, it appears real time on that blog. The point of the blog (I think) is to earn the blog owner money by placing Google ads on the blog for people to click, which results in money to the blog owner.
The blog has no identifying information about the blog owner and it certainly does not have my blessing. I have made a formal complaint reporting abuse to the web service hosting the blog, and I will share the address privately with any of you if you wish to report abuse as well as a violation of our privacy.
The person on this list who started this blog needs to close it down immediately. I don't care who you are as long as you stop it now. I care a great deal who you are if you don't.
Now let's keep things more civilized on this list, respect each other's diversity, and respect the rules of the list and respect each other's privacy.
