Re: [haflingerfriends] All that hair!

Marilyn
Oh all that hair! Legend has a very thick mane as well,so every spring(after the real warm weather sets in) i have to give her a trim.I just use the scissors and trim it close.I let it grow out all summer and fall, might do a slight trim in between. So it is there for the winter months. But i also get the jumbo size halters for winter,or the rope one.
I know i wouldn't want a bald spot on the back of my head all winter!
Glad the boys were good, sounds like you had a great time too.I look at it this way, they will always need to experience different things to make them learn.Heck i just learned something new today too.
Have lots of fun,and it makes the learning funner too.

The topic of bridle paths came up once before but I had no interest in it since Toby's mane is of an average thickness.

Now we have Babe with a super thick fluffy mane that makes bridling a pain in the ain.  :-P    We pull the bit way up into his mouth in order to clear all that fluff or we slide the headstall back over the mane and dig it forward thereafter.  OMG  It looks like Babe is going to get a hair cut.

Had a terrific ride up the street with the boys.  They got along just as I'd hoped they would.  They bumped along, trying to snuzzle one another for comfort.  Toby, being the youngling, wanted Babe to go first.  Babe, because he's never been ridden down the street before, wanted Toby to go first.  It got pretty silly at times.  But, it was fun! :D
