Re: [haflingerfriends] A registry for non-reg.Haffies, like "Pinto Horse Asso"?

Why not just register the spotted haffies in the pinto registry? Why create another registry?...Unless it's to exploit a specific market. I prefer breeders who are dedicated to the breed. But, this is America and people will do what they want to do. :(

Subject: [haflingerfriends] A registry for non-reg.Haffies, like "Pinto Horse Asso"?

Maybe if AHR is firmly against a "Registered Grade" category ... I wonder
... is there a registry out there ... something like the "Pinto Horse Asso"
(which is a color registry) ... but ... that is for Haflingers who meet the
breed standards (but is *not* a color registry, but for those meeting
Haffie breed standards) ?
.
I am guessing not - since I have not seen a post on this list talking
about such a thing.
.
I wonder - would it be possible to found such a registry for those meeting
the Haffie breed standards? \
.
And for those who might say .... what about the Half-Haffie or the Spotted
Haffie .... well, I am musing over such a thing for those who meet the
Haffie breed standards. A Half-Haffie or Spotted Haffie would obviously not
meet the breed standards, so would not be part of the picture.
.
I would be interested in feedback on how a registry is formed. After all
- EVERY registry out there started off by someone (or someones) who got
together and got the ball rolling. ;-) Don't know if I could be the
one ... DO know I could not do it all by myself ..... but it's worth voicing
the question ....
.
I think there is a serious interest from the non-reg. owners out there, who
would appreciate and enjoy a simple certificate recognizing their
Haflinger as a Haflinger .... and would be just fine with a no-breeding policy, and
a "must meet breed standards" policy. ;-) Probably would even be
fine is they were excluded from showing/competition (bet many don't do that
anyways, so not even a "loss" in the equation ;-)
