Re: [haflingerfriends] Re: Question on spotted haffie to the group

Ok this did help.Even though i have seen a paint/haflinger cross and he was nice to look at.He did resemble the haffie side more, but then again he may have been called a spotted haflinger at 1 point in time before. He was a project horse the guy up the road had and he didn't have him long.He had the personality of a mean dog,i only had breif contact w/ him at the time and would not do it again.
And the sooty markings i was talking about are like those on the perchron draft horses.I believe it is the gray ones that show it the best(sorry but i see them as white not gray,my bad LOL)like these  roundbarn.homestead.com/Page2.html .My girl has those usually in the spring.I have noticed in her grand sire Midas Touch NTF  www.indianahaflingers.com/cvafarm.aspx you can see them clearly on him.I how ever could not get a good pic of Legend that would show these. She loves the camera, but not for a side view. The markings usually only show up on the side and down towards the stomach area. And in black and white pics like those of her grand sire on her dam's side i do not see the sooty markings on either Alpen Konig  or Brunel Clifton. I will have to do some googling and see if i can find some color pics of them and investigate some more.
Thanks again for the help. And sorry to offend anyone, but they look like paints to me.Pretty,yes.But to much like a paint.I would rather have a chestnut/sorrel color and a star and stripe and give me those socks any day.

These supposed "spotted haflingers" are the ones that look like pintos (and in fact thats all they are) or as you said "the paint looking horses" if there are any that end up having the haffie color chances are you won't see them out there on the market advertised as these spotted things and he would never allow that horse to be "registered" with him (i use that term loosely of course). I am not too sure what those sooty markings are but thats not what they are marking as a "spotted haffie". I hope i helped : ]
