Feed her "soup" if she'll eat it - beet pulp, hay pellets/cubes, pelleted feed, etc with as much water added to it as you can get her to eat it with. Soak her hay and feed it wet. Some people also suggest adding salt to the feed (a TBL or 2 per day?) - same principle as 'salty snacks' at a bar. You can also try adding "flavoring" (molasses, Kool-Aid, Gatorade, etc) to one bucket of water - always leave one bucket with plain water.

I know, I know..."You can lead a horse to water but you can't make 'em drink"...but I've gotta try!

We're having a series of terrible rain storms (for us anyway) in California and everything is pretty much flooded around our barn. Lola is normally very easy going and she doesn't sweat this kinda stuff but for some reason she is very stressed out. She's eating in this really aggitated fashion, preoccupied with the rain coming down in the arena and won't touch her water. Now she looks gaunt.

She refuses electrolyte powder (even with her favorite treats). I brought a tub of water into her box stall (opposed to the auto waterer), tried turning her out in the rain (cuz I thought she might relax more in the open) but so far nothing has worked.

Getting very concerned she may colic if she doesn't start drinking soon...any suggestions??
