With DNA tracking it shouldn't be too difficult to prove the parentage for some of the unregistered horses. If a horse is not "typical" of the breed they would not be allowed or a horse with spots that is obviously not a purebred would also be prohibited.
All of our horses are registered so it's not an issue here, but I do think it would help bring in a lot of new folks if there was some way to get some form of registration. QH's have Appendix for QH / TB crosses. Appys allow several other breeds. I am in NO way saying any kind of registration should be given to cross bred horses. But a lot of the purebred unregistered Haflingers out there could probably qualify for papers under some kind of special registration. Just something to ponder.
