I have owned a few mules and they are all most to smart.
What i have found out is to be very picky what breed of mare you breed to.
And what you want to use the mule for, i have a friend that breeds his jack to Arab mares and loves the mule foals.
But he likes fast walking higher strung mules.
This old Haflinger mule "Homer" is trained to ride and drive, but iam not a driver. And i like more laid back sweet mules, so a Haflinger cross is great.
But he rides great not spooky and reins great and you would never know he is older.
He lives with my 25 yr old QH/Arab Mare and they get along great.
