[haflingerfriends] Re: Laminitis

Hi Molly,
Did you read the previous posts in front of yours from 2001? Sugar content, IR, Cushings...I think as with anything else, once you know what caused the outbreak, then you would put the animal on a preventative program so you don't have another recurrance. If was caused from the grass, it could happen every spring if the animal is not prevented from getting free access to the grass. And it can happen when the grass is stressed (summer, fall) as the sugar will be more concentrated at that time I think.
I haven't had a horse with it, but am very aware of it.

It seems to me that I have read that once a horse has had a bout of it, it's more likely to recur? Is this true? I'd love ot hear some of your experiences.......

Should I turn tail and run or is it worth checking her out anyway? Is there anything more specific that I should ask or does it even matter?
