To those of us who have been here for several years, we wonder about the level of intelligence of those new owners who are surprised that their two year old (previous owner said he/she was totally trained) acts like a young horse instead of a steady-eddy 25 year old gelding. Hello? If they had the intelligence to locate and purchase a Haflinger, could they not think about a trainer? And how about the bewildered new owners who can't seem to find a saddle to fit a "fat" Haflinger. Again, what happened to their intelligence -- can they not realize they need to restrict feed OR figure out how to locate a saddle fitter? I've had four (4) different saddles on my two Haflingers and all 4 have been a good fit. They are standard, off the rack saddles of good quality (no cheap crap) and a wide tree fits. If I want a "perfect" fit, then I know to go a saddle-fitter for that adjustment. So, my point is: this is a large list and most of us make allowances for others. Personally, I have learned more from the posters about the current horse situation than I have ever learned from the folks who merely say "hi" to a friend. But to each his/her own (within whatever the list owner allows and she DOES edit!).
Ride ASAP (as safe as possible) and have fun! Judy in NE TN
