My name is Selena and I'm from London Ontario Canada. I'm the proud owner of 2 Haflingers.
I've had many horses over the years, I think I might of cover most of the breeds out there .. lol
Last September I bought my reg. mare "Rosie" who is 9. I found it very hard to fit a saddle on her. I ended up getting her a AP English Saddle for English Riding, and a Aussie Stock Saddle for my Western Riding.
This December, I bought "Storm" a 12 year old gelding for my 10 year old daughter. This guy was over weight, and built very wide to begin with. He, was almost impossible to fit in any type of saddle. When I first bought him, all I could get on him was a bareback riding pad. Now that he's lost weight, I can just get the Aussie saddle on him, and I managed a XXL 17 inch Passier English Saddle on him. However I found that they just fit him. I think that with more work and him dropping some more weight, things will fit a lot better.
My question to the group is, is there another saddle out there that will fit extra wide Haffies better that has a small enough seat for young children, or smaller riders?
