Oh Laura, it looks so beautiful & warm there. I have to say I'm jealous!
Scharley looks like she's happily munching away!
I'm so excited on Sunday I'm going to look at a Haflinger gelding, but I'm
dreading riding in the winter cold we have. All the way up here in N. MN.
Guess I shouldn't complain though as Denny in Canada gets her rear out thereGoo
to ride. Kudos to you Denny! Wish I was that dedicated. Oh, the geldings
name is Tinkerbell, so I need help thinking of a new name group! I will
have to wait to see if he really knows his name well or not, hhmmm. what
rhymes with Tinkerbell.. LOL

Yes Marilyn,
There is a drain hole in the bottom that you connect a hose to so the water
drains out. The bottom is on a slant. I have gotten at least 5# of hay in
the feeder at one time. I've never tried more than 5# at one time. I'll take
a photo and post it.
Did you see the new photo's I added today with the small mesh feeder? I
didn't get them posted b,c,d,e,f,g under new photo's to show how I tie them.
There is an album Tieing Scharly's ..... that has it in order. :o)

out of). I then place it in a large rubber tub or you can use a large never
used for mucking - muck bucket or coke bucket which you can get at Walmart.
Fill it with water.....by soaking, you are starting the break down
process(fermentatio n) of the hay. That's why you don't want to soak it any
longer than l hour. I have the tub where the sun hits it (heat speeds up the
process), so I can therefore soak it 30 mins. Pull the waterfilled haynet
out of the tub, onto a pallet where it drains as I empty the brown yucky
water. Then I tie it saftly to the tree, or stall wall, or the pipe corral
that has a backing to it doesn't get shoved to the other side. I will post
photo's right now on how I tie it so my mare(or any horse) does not get a
foot tangled if it were to paw at it. The small mesh hay net also slows down
her meal from 45 mins to almost 2 hours. Much more chew time, much

slowfeeder that I really like. I just haven't connected the hose so I can
soak in it at this time. Easier to use, and especially when a neighbor is
caring for Scharly and I don't have them soak.

hot, or hot water, no longer than 30 mins. If less time, it's considered a
rinse. You can tell by the weight and feel how much water your hay is
holding. And you can tell when you drain off the water how much dirt, sugar
and yuck came off. :o)

gallon of water per feeding plus the water in the soaked and drained
beetpulps, I rest better.. :p
