I just have to laugh at the "spotted Haflinger" idiots. The spotted haflinger is no different than a "designer dog", which is a MUTT with a high price tag... it's all about MONEY.

These supposed "spotted haflingers" are the ones that look like pintos (and in fact thats all they are) or as you said "the paint looking horses" if there are any that end up having the haffie color chances are you won't see them out there on the market advertised as these spotted things and he would never allow that horse to be "registered" with him (i use that term loosely of course). I am not too sure what those sooty markings are but thats not what they are marking as a "spotted haffie". I hope i helped : ]
