Are the "small" squares of hay still around 100 lbs each like they were back
in the day when we lived in the Bay Area?
Then we were paying $8.00 each for pure alfalfa and complained about the
price, but sure do miss that absolutely beautiful, sweet smelling always
perfect bales of hay. Haven't seen anything like that here in VA, where it
is pretty much hit or miss when it comes to alfalfa. LOL!

Teff hay is NOT cheaper, at least in Sonoma Co. It is the new thing.
Last time I got some it was $15+. I can get alfalfa (which I only feed to
lactating mares) for <$13. If you find it cheaper in Napa, please let me
know.
