easy keepers and somewhat low in sugar. From what I have recently heard it
is supposed to be the new great hay. I believe it is supposed to be
cheaper as well. I have a friend of a friend who grows hay on their property in
Vacaville and up until this year they have been growing alfalfa, but are
now going to switch to the Teft hay.
I decided to go ahead and use the 95/5 orchard alfalfa mix this time since
I couldn't get the straight orchard grass. It seemed to be closest to what
my guys are used to eating since they have always only had straight
orchard grass in the past. I didn't have the hay analyzed so I don't know what
the sugar content is. I actually didn't have the straight orchard that I
was feeding analyzed either. They seem to be doing well on the mix so far.
I have not been a fan of feeding alfalfa at all in the past but there is
just a small amount in there.
