If you ever have a chance to go to Paul Martins auctions in southern PA,  thats a great place to get a look at all kinds of carts etc. Has two a year, spring and fall, and I think he also has them in California too. Lots of harness and horse related stuff there too.
 
I wouldnt be afraid to get an Antique one if it has been restored properly. We drive a 1886 Village cart restored, just love it.     Hetty
