But for me, and perhaps others on very limited incomes, when I computed $7.50 per magazine, it just didn't make sense for me to join, or even subscribe. To become a full member at $65, for what basically provides me with nothing more than the magazine anyway, it would be all most $11 each for 6 magazines. But, with the information you provided I see, at this point, that would make a magazine only subscription not possible as you could not reduce that cost at this time. Personally, if the full membership was $45 I would join, just to support the breed.
If I were still able to work, I would certainly join the AHR for all the reasons stated in many of the emails.... support the breed, pride in our horses, etc., even at the current rate. But on a disability income I can't afford extraneous unnecessary expenses. Any extra money I have at the end of the month has to go to other horse expenses.
Thanks for asking.... and I hope we can come up with some useful solutions that would make a more cohesive group.

Suzy,
what would feel like a reasonable annual dues for someone with a non-breeding Haflinger, if it includes the 6 magazine issues? It is important for AHR to know what the bottom line is, especially when each issue of the magazine costs approximately $5 each to produce, print and mail.

I'd love to join but the fees are pretty high and my budget limited so club membership is not high on my list of purchases. But a membership drive might bring a lot of additional people that wouldn't normally join, just a thought from a retired person.
