Re: [haflingerfriends] Marilyn - re: "Reg. Grade" ... Half & Spotteds

My haflinger (though looks like and I was told is a pure haflinger) should not be registered - as there are no papers.  A decision is to make a "club" type of organization, that would be for all those interested in being PART of a larger group would be wonderful.  I would love that, as I am interested in learning as much as possible, having the camaraderie, and enjoying the conversation with others who have these horses as a common interest.  I was breeding Morgans and I would NEVER breed a morgan with ANY other breed, as that just dilutes the wonderful qualities that make her a beautiful Morgan.  I disagree with any "designer" breeding --whether dogs, cats, horses, etc....  there are plenty of lovely grade or mutt animals around without deliberately creating more.  I would be happy to pay dues (excluding the cost to register the horse) to an organization that offers the above - the best part ( I think) would be that it could be minimal cost
to the organization, increase revene, and promote the registered haflinger.
If you have a registered horse, be happy-- if you don't, be happy, too.

thinking alike! ;) ...."

LOL! No problem-o, Marilyn :-) I thought that was what happened -
just a polite response (as perhaps others might have misunderstood, too ;-)
.
I firmly agree that half-Haffies & "spotted Haffies" are not meeting the
reg. Haffie's breed standards.
.
I'm all for a sub-category, something maybe like "Registered Grade" ... for
Haffies that meet all the breed standards ... conformation, coloring, etc.

.
Someone wrote earlier - any ol' palomino does that. But I politely
disagree! :-) A Haffie looks like a Haffie ... not like a palomino Quarter
Horse.
.
Most of us *love* to post "Haflinger Sighting"s to the list ... and we
know what we're talking about, when we say - a Haffie looks like a Haffie!
(big grin!) :-)
