Subject: Re: [haflingerfriends] Looking forward, Looking back/ Horsey Resolutions
Hi Denny and Marlene, and all the group!
Once again, I'm so impressed with what Denny has shared about meeting health
and fitness goals, and I also resonate with Marlene about setting goals for
horse success in 2010. Both ladies brought up some great points about taking
care of ourselves and making time for our equine partners.
I'm also trying to get strong and flexible for riding. I muscle wasted away
( starved away) 20 lb ( down to 89 lb) during an abdominal illness
a couple years ago, then went back to work without ever making time/ having
energy to get back in shape. So the top of my resolutions is about that.
I've been adding fat, nutrients and calories to my diet so I have the
stamina to work out. It's always one foot in front of the other! We have
been living in Texas for 4 1/2 months, so some of my goals are about getting
connected.
So here goes:
1) Continue and improve work out routines/ add yoga.
2) Put each of 3 Haflingers through Clinton Anderson's Building Respect and
Control exercises ( 2 have started).
3) Take one or two Haflingers to the introduction to driving clinic in local
area. ( Nomad first and maybe Lola)
4) I soooooo hope to come up with they money to have 30 days driving
training put on Nomad this year.
5) Use better time management to have more horse time.
6) Go horse camping at Big Bend with local group this Easter.
7) Ride in parades with my church.
8) Go horse camping and also explore trails in the new community.
9) Teach each Haflinger to carry a pack. Sub goal- get the pack saddles
repaired first!
10) Make Medieval dress for riding in costume and also make medival costume
for Nomad ( may extend to 2011!) www.suitabilitypatt erns.com
11) I also want to read Jessica's book and buy a Haffie shirt from Linda at
Pretty Pony Pastures!!
How's that for some goals? I tend to get ahead of myself. I'm excited to
hear what others plan in 2010..
My Best,
Mary LD
