That picture is from the first studbook of the haflinger breed, Libro delle Origini della Razza Avelignese, which was published in Italy in 1931, so the pic must at least be older than that, but I have no exact date. According to the book, the pic shows "Haflinger horses from Salten".
When compared to other pics from the same time period, that horse would probably have been considered "a little on the heavier side" but not at all extreme. There were heavier haflingers and lighter built ones than this one. The size seems to be average for that time.
