Of course I also liked the Medieval Times, but that was more like a whole show on it's own).

Hi Jeanne, I, too, was watching for some intricacy of riding movements and saw mainly fast, faster, and fastest! LOL

Seems that fast riding (jumping, too) is far more dramatic and thus of more interest to most viewers. Perhaps it looks more difficult to those not familiar with the level of skill classical dressage takes.

<grin> Perhaps the uninitiated like to view dressage as a chicken rider in a sissy saddle scared to go outside the sandbox to 'really' ride! LOL And the other side of that coin, perhaps many dressage riders have already been outside the sandbox and now want to learn how to really ride! It's all a matter of one's perspective, I guess. As with any form of art, the more knowledge of the form, the greater one's appreciation of it.

But it was encouraging to see young ladies with youthful balance and little fear take unridable horses and train them into good mounts they could trust in front of a crowd. Kudos to those ladies. And the Budweiser figure 8 and docking were quite impressive!

But mostly I enjoyed seeing the Haflinger group at both equestfest and parade. The viewing time did seem brief, just the nature of a parade or even numerous arena displays. Kudos to all the Haflinger owners who took part. I caught the parade on at least 6 different channels and at two different times so I saw quite a bit of the Haflingers (sometimes described well, sometimes not). Every participant obviously invested much time, energy, and skill so spectators could enjoy a brief glimpse... Judy in NE TN
